Five steps to a sensible sub-account structure

Putting different strategies and purposes into separate sub-accounts keeps one mistake from touching everything and makes attribution easier. Binance sub-accounts support separate logins, APIs and transfers, suiting multi-strategy or team setups.

What to prepare before you start

These five things cover almost every delay people run into: What you are isolating: strategy, team or purpose.

Five steps to build a sub-account structure

Design first, create second: List sub-accounts by purpose, such as spot, futures and quant.

Give each one its own login and two-factor. Issue API keys per account with separate scopes and IPs.

Move capital via internal transfers, never external chains. Export each account regularly for consolidated reporting.

Fees, limits and processing times

Numbers change from time to time, always confirm on the official fee page before you commit size: REST and WebSocket APIs cover market data and trading; create keys with the narrowest permission you need and bind them to fixed IPs.

Sub-accounts can carry their own API keys, which is how most teams separate strategies and reporting. Crypto withdrawals need two-factor confirmation and follow per-request limits; arrival time depends on the network you pick, commonly from a few minutes to half an hour.

New withdrawal addresses often trigger extra security checks, and some regions see a temporary holding period after a password or device change. Trade history, deposits and withdrawals can be exported as CSV for bookkeeping, and many regions expect annual reporting.

Keeping clean records from day one is far cheaper than reconstructing years of trades once an accountant asks for them.

The Binance-specific part

Binance sub-accounts are created under the master with configurable role permissions. Institutional users can request finer-grained admin and review controls.
