Security is a set of settings, not a single action
Most account takeovers do not come from breached platforms but from basic settings never being enabled. Completing the list changes your risk materially.
OKX groups these settings in the security centre, so one focused session covers everything.
What to prepare before you start
These five things cover almost every delay people run into: Fifteen uninterrupted minutes.
Paper or an offline vault for backup codes. A list of devices you actually use, to spot strangers.
Working email and phone for alerts.
Ten items, in this order
Order matters: secure recovery channels before adding restrictions: Set a strong password you reuse nowhere else.
Bind an authenticator and store key plus backup codes offline. Set a fund password if offered, distinct from your login password.
Enable the anti-phishing code and confirm it with a test email. Turn on withdrawal address whitelisting with only addresses you use.
Review and remove devices you no longer use. Enable login and withdrawal alerts so you hear about problems first.
Revisit withdrawal limits deliberately rather than leaving them maximal. Audit API keys, delete unused ones and bind them to IPs.
Put a quarterly reminder in your calendar to repeat this list.
Fees, limits and processing times
Numbers change from time to time, always confirm on the official fee page before you commit size: Set a separate fund password alongside Google Authenticator, then enable the anti-phishing code and address whitelisting.
Review login devices regularly and expect extra checks after changing SIM, email or device. Withdrawals require the fund password plus a two-factor code, and limits scale with your verification level.
Arrival time depends on the network; newly added addresses may need additional review before the first transfer is allowed. The unified v5 REST/WebSocket APIs cover public market data, trading, account and funding endpoints.
Keys should carry only the permissions required and be pinned to known IP addresses, with sub-accounts for strategy separation.
The OKX-specific part
The OKX security page covers login factors, fund password and devices; do them in one pass. Risk pop-ups appear when needed - follow their instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Does completing this guarantee safety
No. It lowers risk substantially but cannot replace careful habits.
Will whitelisting slow withdrawals
New addresses may require a wait or extra checks, which is the point.
How often should I repeat it
Quarterly, plus immediately after changing devices or numbers.
